HIGH NATURE RETREAT
Yoga and Massage
with Lea Schlanz
Well that was fun! (For up-coming retreats please see our Retreat Now webpage :)
The above pics are from last year's Devon retreat, listed below. Please look up future retreats with Lea and James.
Join us this Spring Bank Holiday from 23rd - 27th of May 2019 for magical experience of yoga, massage and nature by the seaside in Devon - 5 days to create the space you need to live life with ease, grace, softness and joy. A space to land, explore, relax and get quiet. We cannot wait.
You will wake up to the fresh air, and runs along glorious coastal paths through the idyllic nature of South Devon, followed by guided meditation, before energising body and mind with a dynamic Vinyasa flow class.
After nourishing yourself with a freshly prepared and delicious breakfast you will receive a massage treatment, or enjoy free time to roam and explore. Find yourself wandering to the beach, swimming in the sea, hiking through the countryside.
For those wanting to put pen to paper, we will offer a few ideas to get some writing started and if you prefer to get your hands dirty potting, planting and indulging in onsite permaculture you can do that too. There will be a slack-line for balance fun and if demand is high a local potter will throw a workshop.
In the afternoon a nurturing yin yoga practice will help you wind down and relax even further, and after a wonderful evening meal, there will be plenty of time to get to know each other, be merry, dance, play games, or read a good book.
A few days of deep relaxation, healthy movement and good eating will leave you ready for the summer.
High Nature is a permaculture and heritage centre a short walk from sandy beaches and spectacular cliff formations, surrounded by mature hedgerows and shaped into land rich with wildflowers – a haven for wildlife and visitors – located with the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are plenty of hiking options - High Nature is just next to the South West coastal path. For those that like to treat themselves to afternoon tea the prestigious Gara Rock hotel and restaurant is nearby. The Pig's Nose Inn in nearby East Prawle has a reputation that draws from far and wide.
The Centre promotes the protection and preservation of the natural landscape and all those who live and work within it.
The yoga will be suitable for all levels and the inclusive massage treatment will be tailored to your needs and leave you feeling amazing. All actives are optional of course.
The Yurts are spacious and beautifully hand-crafted, with solid oak frame beds built by local carpenter Don Rigby (Senior Carpenter at Carpenter Oak), and wood burners designed and built by local blacksmith Martin Champion.
The Teacher - Lea Schlanz
Lea is a yoga teacher with a degree in psychology and a Masters degree in Mindfulness: Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology. Her mindfulness meditation training with Michael Stone deepened her own meditation practice and provided her with great knowledge and skills for facilitating mindfulness meditation in others.
Lea bridges divides between the practices and philosophy of yoga with the world of western medicine.
She is a yoga therapist, and has successfully introduced yoga classes for patients in clinical environments.
She completed her initial 250-hour yoga teacher training with Jason Lu and Karin Charutz in Canada in 2013, in Ashtanga and Classical Hatha, and teaches a playful and dynamic vinyasa class that will make you breathe and work all areas of your body and mind. She enables her students to get out of their comfort zone in a fun and safe environment, and has a smile for everyone.
The Massage Therapist - James Huntley
James is a clinical massage therapist and has spent many years sharing knowledge with medical practitioners from different backgrounds. His work is intuitive and subtle. Every person is unique, and complete attention to each individuals needs enables a tailored and comprehensive treatment, that works on many levels.
Injuries are not isolated - their effects can manifest across the physiology. Easing the physical form is a powerful route to a calm and relaxed mind. The interconnectivity of the human body, and the world we live in, is incredible - and a holistic healing approach that encompasses all of your being is the essential way forward.
James is expert in numerous massage disciplines and will give you the treatment you need.
A Bit About Us
In our private practice we support clients through varying degrees of physiological and psychological trauma and take great pleasure in finding how beautifully our respective skillsets help others make the best of themselves.
James understands the integrated nature of a person's being, from the particularity of muscle and sinew as affected by daily physicality, to the way a person’s feelings have shaped their physique and the placement of internal tension in the body. He uses the subtleties of this understanding to help prompt a person to find release. Lea has an incredible intuition for the same, and a deep care for people that brings light into their lives. Her way of acting upon this caring nature is both instinctive and also grounded in learning and deep understanding.
We are very grateful to be able to help people in our different respective work – but even more grateful to find how beautifully our practices compliment eachother so as to change lives. Two people with evolved practical skillsets, open hearts and shared intention paying very close attention to the needs of others is special.
